3 Sheffield United Players Who Wouldn’t Cut It In The Championship!

Sheffield United moved a step closer to what is looking like an inevitable promotion last night with a 2-0 win over playoff chasing Millwall.

The Blades put themselves 13 points clear of third place, and surely now there is no stopping them in their quest for Championship football at Bramall Lane.

Manager Chris Wilder has done a simply superb job in getting the club turned around following a miserable spell under Nigel Adkins last term, and he deserves plenty of credit.

However, attention will now turn to the summer for Wilder, who will have some huge decisions to make in terms of playing staff.

Moving to the Championship means some players simply won’t make the cut at Bramall Lane anymore, and there is a high chance Wilder will make the decision early in the summer to get rid of certain squad members.

With this in mind, we take a look at THREE Sheffield United players who won’t cut it in the Championship…

MATT DONE

Unfortunately the versatile Done has fallen out of favour in the team this season, and when he does play, he’s very much out of his favoured positions.

Done could well find he is one who is moved on by Wilder.

There will be no shortage of suitors for Done, especially at League One level, and although it is a shame to have to let him go, more quality will be needed in the Championship.

JAMES WILSON

The summer signing started the season well enough, but has since seen his stock drop and his performances have been limited to say the least.

United have Jake Wright, Jack O’Connell, and Chris Basham who are ahead of him, as well as the on loan Ebanks-Landell, and Wilson might well have to look elsewhere to find first team football.

CHRIS HUSSEY

Another summer signing, and one who has failed to impress.

Hussey was the starting left back at the beginning of the campaign, but since the signing of Daniel Lafferty he has found himself out of the side.

When Lafferty is injured, Wilder has often opted to play striker Matt Done as left wing back, which in way, gives quite the insight into how Wilder feels about the talent of Hussey.

Blades fans, what do you think? Who do you think will be let go? Let us know in the comments!
